Become a Foster Parent

All children deserve to lead full, joyful lives and to have caring people supporting them as they grow. Alabama Mentor gives children more than just a safe home. We help children who have had a difficult start in life overcome the challenges they face.

Our foster parents, who we call Mentors, come from all walks of life and backgrounds, but they have one thing in common. They’re caring people who want to help children live their best life.

Basic Requirements Include:

  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Must have an extra bedroom
  • Must complete a background check

Foster parents are independent contractors and not employees of Alabama Mentor or Sevita.

Therapeutic Foster Care

In our Therapeutic Foster Care program, children live with loving foster parents who provide the care and stability they need to heal and grow. With the support of their foster parents, children build life skills to overcome emotional, behavioral, and other challenges. Supports include:

  • Individual and family therapy
  • Trauma treatment
  • Case management
  • Family and community activities
  • Transportation

Transitional Living Program

Our Teens in Transition program gives older youth many opportunities to learn and practice independent living skills within a supportive family home setting.
