Joyful Living Center at Sterling Lofts marks the 21st Sevita day services center available in Massachusetts supporting older adults.
Sevita recently celebrated the opening of its new adult day health center in Attleboro, Joyful Living Center at Sterling Lofts. This is Sevita’s 38th adult day health location in the U.S. and its 21st in Massachusetts. An open house and ribbon cutting event was held in collaboration with the United Regional Chamber of Commerce on June 16, 2023, with local leaders and community members, program staff, individuals served, and their loved ones in attendance. Attleboro Area Chamber President Jack Lank emceed the event.
Attendees included Massachusetts Senator Paul Feeney (D-112); State Representative James Hawkins (D-2nd Bristol); Attleboro Mayor Cathleen Desimone; United Regional Chamber of Commerce President Jack Lank and Chamber members; Michelle Brown, president of Sevita’s Connected Care adult day health services; members of the local Sevita team, program participants and their families; and representatives of WinnCompanies’ Sterling Lofts residential community.
Joyful Living Center at Sterling Lofts helps older adults live richer and more engaging lives as members of their community. The center is located within the Sterling Lofts complex, a 55+ community and historic mill building turned into modern apartments. This collaboration marks the first time WinnCompanies, a national property development company that specializes in mixed-income housing in mixed-use communities, has featured an on-property adult day health center. The center provides nearby access for Loft residents as well as the surrounding community.
“Thank you for investing here in Attleboro, it’s a wonderful community full of love,” said Massachusetts Senator Paul Feeney (D-112) before offering an official Senate citation. “The programming happening here every day is what the community needs and I want to thank you for that.”

Individuals have access to a range of physical, emotional, and social services on-site at Joyful Living, including social and recreational activities, nutritional supports, nursing care, case management, individualized care plans, rehabilitation services, behavioral health supports, bilingual staff, and transportation.
“We are excited to open the doors to our newest adult day health center, Joyful Living Center at Sterling Lofts,” said Michelle Brown, President of Connected Care at Sevita. “At a time when the healthcare system seems increasingly fractured, our whole-person adult day health model offers comprehensive care in one place.”
Brown continued: “Joyful Living Center’s wraparound programs and services, coupled with a trained team of care providers and staff, enables the individuals we support to live more independent lives in the comfort of their local community. And it provides their loved ones with resources and peace of mind that their family members can access the support they need. We are proud to welcome residents of Sterling Lofts as well as the Greater Attleboro area.”
Joyful Living Center is supported by experienced and skilled staff members, including healthcare professionals (primary care providers, recreational therapists, occupational therapists), social workers, and residential supervisors. The Center also features dedicated rooms for clinicians to meet with the individuals they support.
“I love it here!” said Gloria Ducharme, a resident of Sterling Lofts and Joyful Living Center’s first participant. She says Joyful Living is a place where she learns new things and always feels welcome. “They teach me everything I know. You’re always welcome here.”
Added Ricky Castro, one of the newest Joyful Living participants: “I look forward to coming here every day. You couldn’t ask for a better place.”
