Foster Care Services – Safe, Loving Homes

Loving foster parents, helping children build bright futures

Every child deserves a bright future. With the help of our caring staff, foster parents who we call Mentors provide the support children need to thrive, wherever their life journeys take them. A child’s foster parent is their advocate, their teacher, and a friend when they need one most. They’re family.  Because we believe loving families are where children thrive.

We get to know each child and their needs so we can create a care plan just for them and their family. Foster care services may include counseling, nursing care, skill building, and other supports. And they have the support of their Mentor and a team that is passionate about helping children have bright futures.

A long history of caring for children in foster care

Sevita has been a trusted provider of foster care services since 1980, when its partner Massachusetts MENTOR began offering services in the Bay State. Since then we have expanded to provide foster care services in other states.

Over the years, we have used our unique model of foster care that places children in loving homes with foster parents who support their healing and growth. With the support of our clinical team, case managers, and other caring staff, foster parents help youth with a wide range of challenges heal after trauma and set a hopeful path for their lives. We’ve got the expertise and resources of a national organization with a long history of helping children heal. We also offer the support of the caring people in our local programs who are committed to helping children have bright futures.

Services are tailored to each child’s needs and may include:

  • Trauma-focused counseling services
  • Family and community activities
  • Case management
  • Life skill building
  • Skill development and support for foster parents
Sevita supports children in every stage of their journey

For the children we serve, foster care is one part of their journey. We help them get to the next. Sometimes that means going back to their family and home of origin. Other times that means adoption. For young adults, it can mean becoming independent. Our Mentors and team members are with them every step of the way.

Kinship foster care

In some families, a child’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other relatives may open their homes as foster parents. Like all of our Mentors, kinship foster parents have the support of our expert team so they can help the children they care for live well.

There is always a need for loving foster parents

In the United States today, there are over 390,000 children in foster care, from infants to young adults up to age 20. The goal is to reunite children with their families of origin when possible. While a child is waiting to go back home or to another setting, such as adoption or independent living, caring foster parents can give them the love and stability they need to move forward in life.
