Each year, Sevita celebrates and thanks our extraordinary Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Life Skills Trainers, and other direct care staff throughout the month of September. Beginning September 12 this year, we also mark National Direct Support Professional Recognition Week.
DSPs and other direct care staff are the lifeblood of Sevita and the driving force behind our work to help the individuals we serve thrive and grow as members of the community, regardless of the challenges they face. Direct support staff provide life-changing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injury and other challenges, helping them live life to the fullest in the communities they call home. Every day, our DSPs make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our DSPs across the country have risen to the challenge and displayed remarkable dedication to caring for the individuals they serve. In addition to providing life-changing care day in and day out, our DSPs have helped the individuals we serve cope with and adjust to the challenges of the pandemic and found creative ways to them maintain connections, stay active and engage with community life while remaining safe and healthy. In a time that has challenged us all, our direct care staff have gone the extra mile to helping the people they serve adapt to the realities of COVID-19 and continue to live full, independent lives in the community.
To celebrate and thank our remarkable DSPs, Sevita is highlighting one employee in a direct support role every day on our Facebook page and website throughout September. DSPs are sharing what they love about working in direct care while being recognized for their daily contributions.
