Early Intervention Services

Pediatric Partners' free Early Intervention (EI) services provide developmental support for children from birth to age three who have, or are at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities.

We support children in areas including:

  • Physical, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Feeding and swallowing
  • Vision and hearing
  • High-risk conditions

Our programs give young children the support they need during the years when their brains are growing and changing the most. We partner with families to help children build skills, grow confidence, and participate more fully in everyday life.

What Is Early Intervention?

Early Intervention is a federally funded program that provides free services for infants and toddlers (0–3 years old) who show signs of developmental delay, are at risk for delays or have high-risk medical conditions.

The goals of Early Intervention are to:

  • Identify developmental concerns early
  • Provide guidance and support as soon as possible
  • Strengthen family involvement
  • Promote long-term developmental success

Research shows that children who receive Early Intervention services early often make stronger developmental progress.

What Early Intervention services does Pediatric Partners provide?

Our team creates an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) based on your child’s strengths, needs, and daily routines. We provide support for:

  • Physical Development: Motor skills, muscle strength, coordination, and mobility
  • Communication & Cognitive Development: Speech and language skills, understanding, problem-solving, and learning
  • Social & Emotional Development: Attachment, self-regulation, and social interaction skills
  • Feeding & Swallowing Support: Oral motor development, feeding challenges, and safe swallowing strategies
  • Vision & Hearing Services: Support for sensory-related developmental concerns
  • High-Risk Conditions: Developmental support for medically complex needs

What skills and milestones can Early Intervention support?

Early Intervention can help children build skills toward milestones such as:

  • Communicating through words
  • Following directions
  • Playing with toys
  • Sitting, crawling, walking
  • Using hands to explore or complete a task
  • Coloring

Some children may also work on early skills that can help them succeed in preschool, such as sharing with other children, following routines, and staying engaged in activities for longer periods of time.

How do Early Intervention specialists work with families?

Our Early Intervention specialists work directly with families and caregivers, using evidence-based strategies that are incorporated into everyday routines such as mealtime, playtime, and other daily activities.

This family-centered approach helps:

  • Build caregiver confidence
  • Encourage consistent skill development
  • Create meaningful progress in real-life situations

Parents and caregivers are the most important people in a child’s life, and Early Intervention services are built around the family’s everyday routines and goals.
